Shielding Techniques

Shielding techniques refer to the methods used to protect spacecraft and their occupants from the harmful effects of radiation and other forms of energy encountered in space. These techniques include the use of materials with high atomic numbers, such as lead or tungsten, to absorb and scatter radiation, as well as the design of spacecraft structures to minimize exposure. Active shielding techniques, such as magnetic fields or plasma shields, are also being developed to provide additional protection. Shielding is a critical aspect of spacecraft design, as exposure to radiation can cause damage to electronics, affect human health, and even lead to mission failure.
