Satellite Telecommunications

Satellite Telecommunications refers to the use of artificial satellites to provide communication links between various points on Earth. This technology enables the transmission of data, voice, and video across long distances, even in remote or inaccessible regions. The process involves the sending of signals from a ground station to a satellite. The satellite amplifies the signals and redirects them back to Earth to another ground station. This technology is crucial in aerospace engineering as it forms the backbone of global telecommunications, enabling international broadcasts, global navigation, and worldwide internet access. Satellite telecommunications systems can be categorized into three types: geostationary satellites (GEO), low Earth orbit satellites (LEO), and medium Earth orbit satellites (MEO). Each type operates at a different altitude and has unique characteristics that make it suitable for specific applications. For instance, GEO satellites are ideal for television broadcasting and weather monitoring, while LEO satellites are used for data communication such as internet connectivity.
