Relative Velocity

Relative velocity is the velocity of an object or observer in the frame of reference of another object or observer. In space and astronautical engineering, relative velocity is an important concept for understanding the motion of spacecraft and their interactions with other objects in space. When two objects are moving relative to each other, their relative velocity can be calculated by subtracting the velocity of one object from the velocity of the other object. This is important for spacecraft navigation and collision avoidance. Additionally, relative velocity is used in the design of spacecraft trajectories, such as gravity assists and orbital rendezvous.
