Redundant System

A redundant system is a system that has been designed with additional components or backup systems to ensure that the system can continue to function even if one or more components fail. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, redundant systems are critical to ensuring the safety and success of space missions. This is because the harsh and unpredictable environment of space can cause equipment to malfunction or fail, and there is no way to repair or replace it once a spacecraft has launched. Redundant systems can include duplicate components, backup power supplies, and redundant communication systems, among others. By incorporating redundant systems into spacecraft design, engineers can increase the reliability and resilience of the spacecraft, and reduce the risk of mission failure.
