Rapid Prototyping

Rapid prototyping is a technique used in space and astronautical engineering to quickly fabricate a physical model of a spacecraft or its components using computer-aided design (CAD) data. This technique allows engineers to test and evaluate the design of a spacecraft or its components before committing to expensive manufacturing processes. Rapid prototyping involves the use of 3D printing, laser cutting, and other additive manufacturing techniques to create physical models that can be used for functional testing, fit checks, and design verification. This process can significantly reduce the time and cost required to develop a spacecraft or its components, and can also improve the overall quality of the final product.
