Ramjet Engine

A ramjet engine is a type of air-breathing jet engine that uses the vehicle's forward motion to compress incoming air without an axial compressor. The compressed air then mixes with fuel and is ignited, creating a high-velocity exhaust stream that propels the vehicle forward. Ramjet engines are most efficient at supersonic speeds, making them ideal for high-speed flight in the upper atmosphere and beyond. However, they require a minimum speed to operate, typically around Mach 3, and are not suitable for takeoff or low-speed flight. Ramjet engines have been used in a variety of applications, including missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and experimental aircraft.
