Physical Properties

Physical properties refer to the characteristics of materials that can be observed or measured without changing the composition of the material. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, physical properties are important for understanding how materials will behave in the extreme conditions of space. These properties include but are not limited to: thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, density, melting point, boiling point, and tensile strength. Understanding these properties is crucial for designing spacecraft and space suits that can withstand the harsh environment of space. For example, materials with high thermal conductivity are important for dissipating heat generated by electronic components, while materials with high tensile strength are necessary for constructing structures that can withstand the stresses of launch and re-entry.
