Orbital Element

In space and astronautical engineering, an orbital element is a mathematical parameter that describes the orbit of an object in space. These parameters include the object's position, velocity, and acceleration at a specific point in time. The six main orbital elements are the semi-major axis, eccentricity, inclination, longitude of the ascending node, argument of periapsis, and true anomaly. These elements are used to calculate the object's trajectory and predict its future position. Orbital elements are essential for space missions, as they allow engineers to plan and execute maneuvers such as orbital transfers and rendezvous. They are also used to track and monitor objects in space, such as satellites and debris. Orbital elements are constantly changing due to gravitational forces from other objects in space, so they must be regularly updated to ensure accurate predictions.
