Lower Body Negative Pressure

Lower Body Negative Pressure (LBNP) is a technique used in space and astronautical engineering to simulate the effects of gravity on the human body. It involves placing a person in a chamber and applying negative pressure to the lower half of their body, which causes blood to pool in the lower extremities and simulates the gravitational forces experienced on Earth. LBNP is used to study the effects of microgravity on the cardiovascular system, as well as to develop countermeasures to prevent the negative effects of prolonged exposure to microgravity, such as orthostatic intolerance and muscle atrophy.
