Long-duration Spaceflight
Long-duration spaceflight refers to a space mission that lasts for an extended period, typically more than six months. Such missions require careful planning and preparation to ensure the health and safety of the crew, as well as the success of the mission objectives. Long-duration spaceflight presents unique challenges, including exposure to radiation, isolation and confinement, and physiological and psychological stressors. To mitigate these challenges, spacecraft and habitats must be designed to provide adequate protection and support for the crew. Additionally, crew selection and training are critical to ensure that individuals are well-suited for the demands of long-duration spaceflight. Long-duration spaceflight has been essential for advancing our understanding of human physiology and behavior in space, as well as for enabling exploration beyond low Earth orbit.
