Lidar Systems

Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) systems are remote sensing technologies that use laser light to measure distances and create high-resolution 3D maps of objects and environments. In space and astronautical engineering, Lidar systems are used for a variety of applications, including terrain mapping, atmospheric studies, and spacecraft navigation. Lidar systems can provide highly accurate measurements of distance and velocity, making them useful for spacecraft rendezvous and docking, as well as for studying the movement of planets and other celestial bodies. Additionally, Lidar systems can be used to detect and track space debris, which is an important consideration for spacecraft safety. Lidar technology is constantly evolving, with new developments in miniaturization and increased sensitivity allowing for more advanced applications in space and astronautical engineering.
