Insulators
In space and astronautical engineering, insulators are materials that are used to prevent or reduce the transfer of heat, electricity, or sound between different parts of a spacecraft or between a spacecraft and its environment. Insulators are important components of spacecraft thermal control systems, which are designed to maintain a stable temperature range for sensitive equipment and materials. Insulators can be made from a variety of materials, including ceramics, polymers, and composites, and can be designed to have specific thermal and electrical properties. In addition to thermal control, insulators are also used in spacecraft electrical systems to prevent short circuits and other electrical interference.
