Heat Shield
Heat Shield is a protective system that is designed to protect a spacecraft and its crew from the extreme heat generated during atmospheric re-entry. During re-entry, the spacecraft is traveling at high speeds and the air in front of it is compressed and heated, which can cause temperatures to rise up to several thousand degrees Celsius. The heat shield is typically made of materials that can withstand these extreme temperatures, such as ceramics, carbon composites, or ablative materials. As the spacecraft enters the atmosphere, the heat shield absorbs and dissipates the heat, preventing it from reaching the crew and the sensitive equipment inside the spacecraft.
