In space and astronautical engineering, Gulf refers to the Gulf of Mexico Test Range (GoMTR), which is a military testing and training area located in the Gulf of Mexico. It is used for testing missiles, rockets, and other aerospace vehicles. The range is operated by the United States Air Force and is one of the largest overwater ranges in the world. The GoMTR covers an area of approximately 120,000 square miles and extends from the Florida Panhandle to the western coast of Mexico.
