Grazing Incidence Mirrors

Grazing incidence mirrors are optical devices used in space and astronautical engineering to reflect and focus X-rays and extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation. They are designed to reflect radiation at very small angles of incidence, typically less than one degree, to increase the reflectivity of the mirror. Grazing incidence mirrors are used in X-ray telescopes, EUV lithography systems, and other applications where high-energy radiation needs to be focused and detected. The mirrors are typically made of materials with high atomic numbers, such as gold or platinum, to increase their reflectivity. The shape of the mirror is also carefully designed to minimize distortions and aberrations in the reflected image.
