Grayscale

Grayscale is a method of representing images or signals in which each pixel is represented by a single value indicating only the brightness or luminance of the pixel, without any color information. In space and astronautical engineering, grayscale images are commonly used in remote sensing applications, where they provide a way to visualize and analyze data collected by sensors on spacecraft. Grayscale images can be used to study features such as topography, vegetation, and mineral composition of planetary surfaces. They can also be used to monitor changes in the Earth's atmosphere and oceans, and to track the movement of objects in space. Grayscale images are often processed using techniques such as image enhancement and classification to extract useful information from the data.
