Gaskets

In space and astronautical engineering, gaskets are mechanical seals used to prevent leakage of fluids or gases between two surfaces. They are commonly used in spacecraft and launch vehicles to seal joints between different components, such as between the engine and the fuel tank. Gaskets are designed to withstand extreme temperatures, pressures, and vibrations that are typical in space environments. They are made of materials that are resistant to corrosion, radiation, and other harsh conditions. The performance of gaskets is critical to the safety and reliability of space systems, as even a small leak can cause catastrophic failure. Therefore, gaskets are subject to rigorous testing and quality control to ensure their effectiveness and durability.
