Extravehicular Activity

Extravehicular activity (EVA) is any activity performed by an astronaut or cosmonaut outside a spacecraft beyond the Earth's appreciable atmosphere. It is also known as a spacewalk. The objective of an EVA is to carry out tasks that cannot be performed from inside the spacecraft, such as repairing or maintaining equipment, conducting experiments, or installing new hardware. EVAs are performed using specially designed spacesuits that provide the necessary life support and protection from the harsh environment of space. The duration of an EVA can range from a few minutes to several hours, and in some cases, multiple EVAs may be required to complete a complex task.
