Error-correcting Code
Error-correcting code (ECC) is a technique used in space and astronautical engineering to detect and correct errors that occur during the transmission of digital data. ECC works by adding extra bits to the data being transmitted, which allows the receiver to detect and correct errors that may have occurred during transmission. This is particularly important in space and astronautical engineering, where data transmission can be disrupted by cosmic radiation, electromagnetic interference, and other environmental factors. ECC is used in a variety of space and astronautical engineering applications, including satellite communications, deep space missions, and spacecraft telemetry. Without ECC, errors in transmitted data could lead to mission failure or other serious consequences.
