Electromagnetic Compatibility Tests

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) tests are conducted to ensure that electronic equipment and systems are able to operate as intended in their intended electromagnetic environment without causing or suffering unacceptable electromagnetic interference. EMC testing includes emissions testing, which measures the amount of electromagnetic energy that is emitted from the equipment under test, and immunity testing, which measures the ability of the equipment to function correctly in the presence of electromagnetic energy. EMC testing is important in the space and astronautical engineering context to ensure that electronic equipment and systems on spacecraft and satellites are able to operate reliably in the harsh electromagnetic environment of space.
