Earth Radiation Budget Experiment (ERBE)
Earth Radiation Budget Experiment (ERBE) was a NASA mission that aimed to measure the Earth's radiation budget, which is the balance between the amount of energy received from the sun and the amount of energy radiated back into space. The mission consisted of three satellites that were launched between 1984 and 1989, and they carried instruments to measure incoming solar radiation, outgoing longwave radiation, and reflected shortwave radiation. The data collected by ERBE has been used to study the effects of clouds, aerosols, and greenhouse gases on the Earth's climate, and to improve climate models.
