Downconverter
A downconverter is a device used in space and astronautical engineering to convert high frequency signals received from a satellite or spacecraft to a lower frequency that can be easily processed by the receiver. The downconverter is an essential component of a communication system as it allows for the extraction of useful information from the received signal. The downconverter works by mixing the received signal with a local oscillator signal to produce an intermediate frequency signal that can be easily processed by the receiver. The downconverter is used in both ground-based and space-based communication systems.
