Satellite-based Navigation System
A satellite-based navigation system is a system that uses satellites to provide autonomous geo-spatial positioning with global coverage. The system consists of a constellation of satellites in orbit around the Earth, ground control stations, and user receivers. The satellites transmit signals that are received by the user receivers, which use the signals to determine their precise location, velocity, and time. The most well-known satellite-based navigation system is the Global Positioning System (GPS), which is operated by the United States government. Other satellite-based navigation systems include the Russian GLONASS, the European Galileo, and the Chinese BeiDou. Satellite-based navigation systems have a wide range of applications, including aviation, maritime, land-based transportation, surveying, and mapping.
