Doppler Effect (aka Doppler Shift)

The Doppler Effect, also known as Doppler Shift, is the change in frequency or wavelength of a wave in relation to an observer who is moving relative to the wave source. In space and astronautical engineering, the Doppler Effect is used to measure the velocity and distance of objects in space. This is done by analyzing the shift in frequency of electromagnetic waves emitted by celestial objects, such as stars and galaxies, as they move towards or away from Earth. The Doppler Effect is also used in satellite communication, where it is used to compensate for the shift in frequency of signals transmitted from a moving satellite to a stationary receiver on Earth.
