Descent Phase

In space and astronautical engineering, the descent phase refers to the portion of a spacecraft's journey in which it is descending towards a planetary surface, such as the Moon or Mars. During this phase, the spacecraft must slow down from its orbital velocity and navigate through the planet's atmosphere, using various systems such as thrusters, parachutes, and heat shields to safely land on the surface. The descent phase is a critical part of any planetary mission, as it is the final stage before the spacecraft reaches its destination and begins its scientific operations.
