Demodulator

In space and astronautical engineering, a demodulator is a device that extracts the original information-bearing signal from a modulated carrier wave. In other words, it is a device that performs demodulation. Demodulation is the process of recovering the baseband signal from the carrier wave by removing the modulating signal. Demodulators are used in various communication systems such as satellite communication, deep space communication, and interplanetary communication. They are also used in telemetry systems to extract data from the modulated signal transmitted by a spacecraft. Demodulators can be implemented using various techniques such as envelope detection, synchronous detection, and phase-locked loop (PLL) detection.
