Cross-Polarization Interference Cancellers

Cross-Polarization Interference Cancellers (XPIC) are a type of technology used in aerospace engineering, particularly in satellite communication systems. XPICs are designed to mitigate the interference caused by cross-polarization, a phenomenon where signals transmitted on one polarization interfere with signals on the orthogonal polarization. This interference can degrade the quality of the received signal and reduce the overall efficiency of the communication system. XPICs work by estimating the interference and subtracting it from the received signal, thereby improving the signal-to-interference ratio. This technology is particularly useful in high-capacity, dual-polarized communication systems where the potential for cross-polarization interference is high. XPICs can be implemented in both the transmitter and receiver ends of a communication system, and are a critical component in ensuring the reliable and efficient transmission of data in aerospace communication systems.
