Compressibility
Compressibility is the measure of the ability of a material to be compressed or reduced in volume under the action of an external force. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, compressibility is an important property of gases, as they are the most common fluids used in spacecraft propulsion systems. The compressibility of a gas is affected by its temperature, pressure, and molecular weight. The compressibility factor is a dimensionless quantity that describes the deviation of a real gas from ideal gas behavior. Compressibility is also a critical factor in the design of spacecraft structures, as the materials used must be able to withstand the compressive forces experienced during launch and in the vacuum of space.
