Cape (or Point)
In space and astronautical engineering, a cape (or point) is a geographical feature on the Earth's surface that is used as a launch site for spacecraft. Capes are typically located on coastlines and offer a number of advantages for launching rockets and other spacecraft. These advantages include the ability to launch over open water, which reduces the risk of damage to populated areas in the event of a launch failure, as well as access to a wide range of orbital inclinations due to the rotation of the Earth. Capes are also often located near major population centers, which can provide a skilled workforce and other resources for the space program.
