Radiation-hardened Microprocessors

Radiation-hardened microprocessors are electronic chips designed to operate in high radiation environments, such as space. These microprocessors are built with materials and designs that can withstand the damaging effects of ionizing radiation, such as single-event upsets (SEUs) and total ionizing dose (TID). Radiation-hardened microprocessors are used in spacecraft, satellites, and other space missions where reliability is critical. These microprocessors are also used in nuclear power plants, military applications, and medical equipment. The design of radiation-hardened microprocessors involves shielding the chip from radiation, using error-correcting codes, and implementing redundancy to ensure that the chip can continue to function even if some of its components are damaged by radiation.
