Block Codes


In space and astronautical engineering, block codes refer to a type of error-correcting code used to detect and correct errors that may occur during the transmission of data. Block codes divide the data into fixed-size blocks and add redundant bits to each block to allow for error detection and correction. The most commonly used block codes in space and astronautical engineering are the Reed-Solomon codes, which are used in a variety of applications including satellite communications, deep space communications, and digital television broadcasting.
