Autoland

In the context of aerospace engineering, Autoland refers to a system that allows an aircraft to land automatically under the control of onboard computers. This system is typically used in situations where visibility is poor or non-existent, such as in heavy fog or at night. The Autoland system uses a combination of radar, GPS, and other sensors to determine the aircraft's position and guide it to the runway. The system also controls the aircraft's speed, altitude, and direction during the landing process. Autoland systems are designed to be fail-safe, meaning they have multiple redundancies to ensure that if one component fails, the system can still function. They are also designed to be able to handle a wide range of weather conditions and runway configurations. Autoland systems are a critical component of modern aircraft, helping to increase safety and efficiency in aviation.
