ARGOS


ARGOS (Advanced Research and Global Observation Satellite) is a satellite-based system used for tracking and collecting data from wildlife and environmental sensors. It is a joint program between the United States and France, and is operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the US and the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) in France. The system consists of a network of satellites in low Earth orbit, ground receiving stations, and user terminals. ARGOS is used for a variety of applications, including tracking animal migration patterns, monitoring ocean currents and temperatures, and collecting data from weather buoys and other environmental sensors.
