Zeolite

Zeolites are a group of naturally occurring or synthetic hydrated aluminosilicate minerals with a three-dimensional porous crystal structure. They have a high surface area and are commonly used as catalysts, adsorbents, and ion exchangers in various industrial applications. In space and astronautical engineering, zeolites have been studied for their potential use in life support systems, as they can adsorb and remove carbon dioxide and other volatile organic compounds from the air. Zeolites have also been proposed as a material for thermal energy storage in space habitats, as they can absorb and release heat without undergoing a phase change.
