TEG Efficiency
TEG Efficiency refers to the ability of a thermoelectric generator (TEG) to convert heat into electrical energy. In space and astronautical engineering, TEGs are commonly used to power spacecraft and satellites by converting the heat generated by the decay of radioactive isotopes into electricity. The efficiency of a TEG is determined by the thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT), which is a measure of the material's ability to conduct electricity and heat simultaneously. Higher ZT values indicate higher TEG efficiency. Improving TEG efficiency is important in space missions as it can lead to longer mission durations and reduced reliance on traditional power sources.
