Supersonic Combustion

Supersonic combustion is a type of combustion where the flow of air and fuel is at supersonic speeds. This type of combustion is used in hypersonic flight vehicles, such as scramjets, where the high speeds require supersonic combustion to achieve efficient propulsion. Supersonic combustion is achieved by using a specially designed engine that compresses the air and fuel mixture to supersonic speeds, allowing for efficient combustion. The high speeds also cause the air and fuel mixture to heat up to extremely high temperatures, which can cause material degradation and other challenges that must be addressed in the design of the engine and vehicle.
