Spherical Aberration
Spherical aberration is an optical phenomenon that occurs when light rays passing through a lens or mirror do not converge to a single point after passing through the lens or mirror. This is due to the fact that the shape of the lens or mirror is not perfectly spherical, causing the light rays to focus at different points. In space and astronautical engineering, spherical aberration can be a significant problem for telescopes and other optical instruments used to observe distant objects. To correct for spherical aberration, engineers may use a combination of lenses or mirrors with different shapes and curvatures, or they may use computer algorithms to digitally correct for the aberration.
