Spacecraft Structure

Spacecraft structure refers to the physical framework that supports and protects the various components of a spacecraft, including the payload, propulsion system, and crew module. The structure must be designed to withstand the harsh conditions of space, including extreme temperatures, radiation, and micrometeoroid impacts. It must also be lightweight to minimize launch costs, yet strong enough to withstand the stresses of launch and operation. The structure is typically made of lightweight materials such as aluminum, titanium, and composites, and is often designed in a modular fashion to allow for easy assembly and maintenance. In addition to providing structural support, the spacecraft structure may also serve as a heat shield, radiation shield, or electrical ground.
