Silica Gel

Silica gel is a desiccant that is commonly used in spacecraft and astronautical engineering applications to control humidity and prevent moisture damage. It is a porous, granular form of silicon dioxide that has a high surface area and can adsorb water molecules through physical adsorption. Silica gel is often used in spacecraft and satellites to protect sensitive electronic components from moisture damage during launch and in the harsh vacuum of space. It is also used in spacesuits to control humidity and prevent the buildup of moisture from sweat. Silica gel can be regenerated by heating it to a high temperature to drive off the adsorbed water molecules, making it a reusable desiccant.
