Semiconductor Detectors

Semiconductor detectors are devices made of semiconductor materials that are used to detect ionizing radiation such as alpha, beta, and gamma rays. They operate by creating electron-hole pairs when ionizing radiation interacts with the semiconductor material. The resulting electrical signal is then amplified and processed to provide information about the radiation. Semiconductor detectors are commonly used in space and astronautical engineering for various applications such as radiation monitoring, imaging, and spectroscopy.
