Pressure Swing Adsorption
Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) is a process used in space and astronautical engineering to separate gases from a mixture. It works by using a solid adsorbent material, such as zeolite, to selectively adsorb one or more gases while allowing the others to pass through. The process involves two or more adsorption vessels, which are alternately pressurized and depressurized to produce a stream of purified gas. PSA is commonly used in spacecraft life support systems to remove carbon dioxide from the cabin air and provide breathable oxygen. It is also used in the production of rocket propellants and other industrial gases.
