Organic Scintillators
Organic scintillators are materials that emit light when excited by ionizing radiation. They are composed of organic molecules that contain both a scintillating component and a wavelength shifter. The scintillating component absorbs the energy from the incoming radiation and emits light, while the wavelength shifter shifts the emitted light to a wavelength that can be detected by a photodetector. Organic scintillators have a number of advantages over inorganic scintillators, including their low cost, ease of production, and flexibility in design. They are commonly used in applications such as medical imaging, radiation detection, and high-energy physics experiments.
