Nuclear Fission


Nuclear fission is a process in which the nucleus of an atom is split into two or more smaller nuclei, along with the release of a large amount of energy. In astronautical engineering, nuclear fission is used as a power source for spacecraft, as it provides a high energy density and can operate for long periods of time without refueling. However, the use of nuclear fission in space also poses significant safety and environmental risks, as any malfunction or accident could release radioactive material into space. Therefore, strict safety protocols and regulations must be followed to ensure the safe use of nuclear fission in space.
