Neuroimaging Techniques

Neuroimaging techniques refer to a set of non-invasive methods used to visualize the structure and function of the brain. These techniques include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), and magnetoencephalography (MEG). MRI uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the brain's structure, while PET and fMRI measure changes in blood flow to identify areas of the brain that are active during specific tasks. EEG and MEG record the electrical and magnetic activity of the brain, respectively, and can be used to study brain function in real-time. Neuroimaging techniques have revolutionized our understanding of the brain and have been instrumental in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
