NESDIS

NESDIS stands for National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service. It is a branch of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that is responsible for managing and operating a suite of environmental satellites that provide critical data for weather forecasting, climate monitoring, and environmental management. NESDIS also manages and distributes a vast archive of environmental data, including satellite imagery, oceanic and atmospheric data, and climate records. The agency works closely with other government agencies, international organizations, and private sector partners to ensure that environmental data is available to support a wide range of applications, from disaster response to agricultural planning to transportation safety.
