Mountain Building

Mountain building is the geological process by which mountains are formed. It involves the uplift and deformation of the Earth's crust, which can be caused by tectonic activity, volcanic activity, or erosion. Tectonic activity occurs when two or more tectonic plates collide, causing one plate to be forced upwards and the other to be forced downwards. Volcanic activity can also contribute to mountain building by depositing layers of lava and ash that build up over time. Erosion can also play a role in mountain building by wearing away the surrounding rock and soil, leaving behind the harder, more resistant rock that forms the core of a mountain. Mountain building can take millions of years to complete, and the resulting mountains can be some of the most spectacular and awe-inspiring features on the planet.
