Membrane

In space and astronautical engineering, a membrane refers to a thin, flexible material that is used to contain or separate different environments or substances in space. Membranes can be used for a variety of purposes, such as creating a barrier between different gases or liquids, filtering out contaminants, or regulating temperature and pressure. In spacecraft design, membranes are often used in life support systems to separate breathable air from other gases, or to filter out carbon dioxide and other contaminants. Membranes can also be used in propulsion systems, such as in ion thrusters, to separate the propellant from the electrical components. Additionally, membranes can be used in space habitats to regulate temperature and pressure, or to create a barrier between different living spaces or work areas.
