Libration Point

A libration point is a point in space where the gravitational forces of two large bodies, such as the Earth and the Moon or the Sun and the Earth, balance the centrifugal force felt by a smaller object, allowing it to maintain a stable position relative to the larger bodies. There are five libration points in the Earth-Moon system, and they have been used for a variety of purposes, including scientific observation and space exploration. The most well-known application of libration points is in the deployment of space telescopes, such as the James Webb Space Telescope, which will be positioned at the second Lagrange point (L2) in the Sun-Earth system.
