ITOS (Improved TIROS Operational Satellite)
ITOS (Improved TIROS Operational Satellite) was a series of weather satellites launched by NASA between 1960s and 1970s. These satellites were designed to provide global coverage of weather data, including cloud cover, temperature, and humidity. The ITOS program was an improvement over the earlier TIROS program, with better sensors and more advanced technology. The data collected by ITOS satellites was used for weather forecasting, climate research, and other scientific purposes. The ITOS program was eventually replaced by the NOAA Polar Operational Environmental Satellite (POES) program.
