ISRU Technologies

ISRU (In-Situ Resource Utilization) Technologies refer to the methods and systems used to extract, process, and utilize resources found on other celestial bodies, such as the Moon or Mars, for human exploration and settlement. These technologies include excavation and drilling equipment, resource processing and refining systems, and power generation and storage systems. ISRU technologies are critical for enabling sustainable and cost-effective exploration and settlement of space, as they reduce the need for Earth-based resources and enable the production of propellants, life support consumables, and construction materials from local resources. Some examples of ISRU technologies include the production of oxygen from lunar regolith, the extraction of water from Martian ice caps, and the use of solar power to generate electricity on the Moon.
